Small Grants Available for KY Farmers

January 9, 2012

Share:

The County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) allocates money from the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy to counties across Kentucky to support local farmers. This money is distributed in the form of small grants or cost-share programs via County Extension offices, conservation districts, or other local government offices, and fund needs as diverse as goat and sheep farming, on-farm energy efficiency and production, fruit and vegetable production, livestock fencing and a variety of other project areas.

Not all counties get these funds at the same time, which can make it challenging to know when to apply. Owsley County received money last summer, Lewis County was taking applications in November, and Madison County is accepting applications now. The best way to find out if and when these grants will be available is to call your local extension agent. Find yours here!
