Purpose
The Appalachian Community Fund (ACF) makes grants on a yearly basis from the General Fund Program which is supported by a combination of unrestricted funds and monies from the Alexander Fund of the New York Community Trust. ACF’s General Fund is an annual board-directed program focusing on organizing for social change and is monies organizations may use for general support as well as for programs and projects.

Please take the time to read through the entire application before writing your proposal to make sure you understand what the criteria are, the information that is being requested, and the formatting that is needed.
Grant Amount
Organizations may apply for funding in one of two categories:
- Emerging Group/Seed Grant (up to $5,000 for groups in earlier stages of development)
- Movement Building Group (up to $10,000 for more established groups)
ACF Does Not Fund:
- Profit-making organizations
- Electoral lobbying for initiatives or public office
- Individual efforts
- Major capital projects
- Social services organizations unless they demonstrate some analysis and strategies to challenge the systems that lead to the problem
Deadline
For the 2011 General Fund proposals must be received in the ACF office by 5:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2010. The application and guidelines for 2011 General Fund will be made available shortly. This year we have two options for submitting. Please review the RFP guidelines and information.
