FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 5, 2010) –– The Kentucky Brownfield Program and the Division of Compliance Assistance (DCA) invite you to participate in a first-ever event on Nov. 3, 2010, to explore how federal, state and local programs, both governmental and nongovernmental, can work together to turn nonproductive areas into properties that can revitalize a community. All too often, communities in Appalachia are faced with properties that cannot be redeveloped or reused due to real or perceived contamination. Exploring Community Revitalization in Central Appalachia will offer an opportunity to find solutions for these properties and make them productive again.
Participants will enjoy a one-day event of interaction, engagement and active problem-solving. Topics will include supporting local entrepreneurs, ensuring funding access for rural communities and creating post-mining land use.
