To recognize and promote entrepreneurship in Ohio, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce will award $25,000 to an outstanding Ohio company with its third annual Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award.
According to a press release, “the award is designed to identify, honor and financially assist a company in Ohio that is demonstrating the historical innovative spirit of our state. The award recipient best demonstrates this entrepreneurial spirit through a recently introduced or pending introduction of a unique product or service that will have the ability to sustain long-term growth for the company, increase local employment and assist in the creation of economic prosperity within the state.”
Last year’s winner was Cool Containers of Marietta, Ohio. Cool Containers created an innovative, unique and versatile cargo container capable of high-density storage with stringent temperature control for high-value pharmaceuticals. The press release hyperlinked above says that 50 to 150 new high-paying jobs will be created in the Marietta area, including skilled assemblers, technicians, engineers, sales and marketing managers and associates, service engineers and administrative personnel.
Nominations for the award must be made by a local chamber of commerce, and the chamber that nominates the winning company will be awarded $1,000. Each local chamber may nominate only one business. Nominations are due by March 1, 2011. Click here for a nomination form.
